About

Marite Männi is an Estonian pianist based in Germany, whose focus lies on art song. She works both as a soloist and as a song accompanist.

Born in Tallinn, she began piano lessons at the age of six. Marite studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof. Peep Lassmann and later continued her training at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She is currently specializing in art song with Prof. Götz Payer at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.

Her work as a song pianist has received international recognition: in 2024 she and her duo partner, baritone Jasper Lampe, were awarded second prize at the International Lied Duo Competition in Groningen. In 2025 she is a scholarship holder of the renowned masterclass Exzellenzlabor Lied. She has also appeared at the Beyond Lied Days as part of the Hugo Wolf Academy and has been active since 2021 in the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now program, where she regularly collaborates with soprano Lara Rieken.

In addition to her Lied repertoire, she has performed with the Vaasa City Orchestra in Finland as well as with the EMTA Symphony Orchestra in Estonia.

Marite also works in an interdisciplinary way: together with mezzo-soprano Clara Schneider and violist Lilia Rubin, she developed Funky Brain, a staged concert format that artistically engages with the topic of ADHD and places the social relevance and inclusion at its center.

Marite’s musical development has also been shaped and supported by masterclasses and mentoring with Alexej Gorlatch, Christopher Park, Einav Yarden, Dmitry Ablogin, Anne Le Bozec, Leif Ove Andsnes, Christian Ihle Hadland, Hedwig Fassbender, and Sophia Rahman.

In 2022 she was selected for the TONALi Stage Academy in Hamburg. She was a recipient of the German National Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium) and is currently supported by the arteMusica Foundation. Her repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary music, with a particular focus on art song.
