Biography
Marite Männi is an Estonian pianist based in Germany, with a primary focus on Art Song. She works as both a soloist and a collaborative pianist.
Born in Tallinn, she began piano lessons at the age of six. Männi studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof. Peep Lassmann and later continued her training at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She is currently specializing in Lied with Prof. Götz Payer at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts.
Her work as a Lied pianist has received international recognition. In 2024, she and her duo partner, baritone Jasper Lampe, were awarded second prize at the International Lied-Duo Competition in Groningen. She has performed as part of the Hugo Wolf Academy’s Beyond Lied Days and has been active in the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now program since 2021, where she regularly appears with soprano Lara Rieken.
In addition to Lied, she has performed with the Vaasa City Orchestra in Finland and the EMTA Symphony Orchestra in Estonia. In 2022, she was selected to join the TONALi Bühnenakademie in Hamburg, a program supporting young musicians focusing in innovative concert formats and social engagement.
Männi’s artistic development has been further supported and shaped through masterclasses and mentorship from pianists including Alexej Gorlatch, Christopher Park, Einav Yarden, Dmitry Ablogin, Leif Ove Andsnes, Christian Ihle Hadland, and Sophia Rahman.
She is a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium and currently holds a scholarship from the arteMusica Foundation. Her repertoire spans classical to contemporary music, with a particular focus on Art Song.
